Robert Owens’ knack for R&B’s seamless blends can be attributed to the respect he has maintained for his natural gifts.  Accompanying his smooth approach to melodies, you will hear his original, stylistic groove that will keep you in a cool vibration.  Robert grew up in the musical climate of South Central Los Angeles and by the age of seven, his talent began to emerge.  Forged with the musical energy of South Central LA and the solid Jazz fields of Kansas City and Detroit, Robert’s smooth R&B Jazz Sound was born.  In the music of Robert Owens’, AKA IMtume Rising, you will hear original compositions with lyrics that represent the sliding scales in the lessons of love.  Robert Owens vocals tell a story of passion.  His mid-tempo title tracks show you the smooth side of R&B coupled with the old standard that features a Jazz Vibration.

In October 2020, Kay released her third studio album “In My Mind”. Wrapped in a theme of broken and beautiful, Kay shared the broken pieces of herself with the intent of inspiring listeners to find the beauty in their broken spaces. To date, “In My Mind” has been Kay’s most popular album release, resonating with her audience, and critically acclaimed by several notable music blogs and podcasts. Society of Sound included Kay Soul as part of their 2021 roll out of meaningful artists to watch, calling Kay “a ray of sunshine, showing people that there is still beauty to found, even when we’re feeling down.” (SOS Music Media, January 2021). In reference to the song “Silly Love”, A&R Factory highlighted Kay’s cultural relevance stating, “while plenty of people had fun discussing whether WAP was a feminist track, artists such as Kay Soul was cooking up the most empowering track that I’ve heard this year.” (A&R Factory, November 2020.)

Miss Carmen Marie Jackson is modern jazz at it's finest. The smooth lyrics of this vocalist will make you visualize that you too are in the heart of the Motor City.

Carmen, born and raised in Detroit Michigan aspired to be a vocalist at an early age. However, it wasn't her Uncle, the late Milt Jackson of the Modern Jazz Quartet that gave her the conformation that she needed to pursue her dreams.

Carmen is a true vocalist at heart. Her style ranges from alto mezzo to second soprano. Although she prefers to sing jazz she's very versatile and adds a unique flavor to the genre.

Carmen has been by a plethora of media outlets. One of which is from her hometown newspapers, The Detroit Free Press.

She has also performed at many venues around the Metro Detroit area. You can catch her regularly at at Bakers Keyboard Lounge every first and second Sunday and Berts Eastern Market on Mondays and Thursdays.

With the recent departure of  revered balladeer Tony Bennett from the live music scene, I felt even more encouraged to bring my own grown-up music to the national forefront – music I call “Baritone Love Songs.”  Bennett famously left his heart in San Francisco. But mine was always there.

You see I was born in Oakland, California,  on November 11, 1945, Veterans Day. I grew up in the Oakland/San Francisco Bay Area and while pursuing various business ventures, my love of singing the music I always loved grew stronger. And I began to record.

I have an enduring passion for the American art form known as Jazz.  And my music is a Jazz-influenced interpretation of the classic American song book created by writers like Cole Porter, Johnny Mercer, Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn,  to name a few of the geniuses who gave America this world-class music.

In the studio, I assembled some of the best musicians in the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area with a very bright young producer named Ron Moton. We combined our talents so the world can enjoy once more fresh interpretations of  timeless music that reflects my own persona.

I'm a Romantic…who has always loved songs that tell a story of life and love that most of us can identify with…songs with the poetry of love and sadness…songs with the joys of life lyrically and melodiously integrated with sound and harmony.

I'm a Passionate Person…who falls in love too easily, especially with music that complements the lyric with sensitivity… and harmonics that support the lyrical story.

I am one of the last of a generation that produced the vocalists who inspired men and women to hold each other in their arms… and dance across the floor in loving bliss.

I grew to love this music even more when I saw Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra on television.  These great storytellers, along with the inimitable Ms. Nancy Wilson, inspired my ability to phrase and style a lyric to give it special meaning. I saw other great vocalists with that same talent, Lou Rawls and Etta James, when both were on the fabled ‘Chittlin’ Circuit.’

At 16, I was at the 1961 Monterey Jazz Festival when the fabled Dizzy Gillespie Orchestra was the house band. And yes, I watched Lawrence Welk too… expanding my exposure to the vast musical universe that informs my own sensibilities …and repertoire…today.

So come and enjoy the ride with me as we travel back into the era where beautiful music warmed and comforted…and lyrics told heartfelt stories…satisfying our yearning for the nostalgia  that fills our souls today.
